How We’re Protecting You With The Cyber Essentials Scheme

We’re delighted to announce that QStory is now accredited with the UK National Cyber Security Centre’s (NCSC) government-backed scheme. It’s never been so important to protect customer data, which is just one of the reasons why we felt it necessary to demonstrate our commitment to your security.

By undergoing the process of certification, we hope to give you complete peace of mind when it comes to how we process your information. Here, we explain what this new scheme is and why we believe it’s great news for you.

What the Cyber Essentials certification is

The certification is described by the Government as a ‘simple but effective’ scheme that helps to protect against ‘a whole range of the most common cyber attacks’.

Accreditation requires taking a self-assessment approach, where we assess our own vulnerabilities against five security controls. It’s a preventative measure that means QStory as an organisation is less likely to attract attention from cyber criminals.

Once we’ve submitted our responses to the self-assessment, a qualified assessor at the IASME Consortium evaluates them. The certification has a 12-month expiry date, at which point we’ll reapply and continue to minimise the potential risks of any cyber attacks.

Why the Government is offering it

Four in ten businesses (39%) and a quarter of charities (26%) reported having security breaches or attacks between March 2020 and March 2021. The most commonly affected were medium-sized businesses, large businesses and high-income charities.

In this time, the risk of being attacked has grown significantly higher. With so many businesses struggling to adopt cyber security measures while working from home, fewer than ever are protected from evolving threats.

It’s for this reason that the government has encouraged businesses to evaluate their security measures. Some government contracts even require companies to have this certification in order to tender.

How it helps you

This constant re-evaluation of our processes shows that we’re continually working towards making your data as secure as it can be. Not only do we meet government standards, but combine this with our ISO/IEC 27001 accreditation, and you get a sense of how we go above and beyond to form our comprehensive security protocols.

As a QStory customer, this means complete peace of mind. The likelihood of your information being leaked either by an attack or mistake is minimal. As a result, we can better work together to optimise your workforce’s time and take your efficiency to the next level.
