{"id":13323,"date":"2020-05-19T11:33:00","date_gmt":"2020-05-19T10:33:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/qstory.ai\/us\/?p=13323"},"modified":"2020-05-19T11:33:00","modified_gmt":"2020-05-19T10:33:00","slug":"contact-centre-homeworking","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/qstory.ai\/us\/blog\/2020\/05\/19\/contact-centre-homeworking\/","title":{"rendered":"In 7 weeks the contact centre industry established a \u201cnew normal\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On Friday 20th March, we had already established homeworking for our team at <a href=\"https:\/\/qstory.ai\/us\/\">QStory<\/a>, a global pandemic had been declared, schools were closing that day, the UK was going into lockdown and I was hit with severe breathlessness and a terrible dry cough.\u00a0 I had my first visit by an ambulance crew dressed in \u201clite\u201d PPE.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Some weeks prior to this, I\u2019d been visiting our customers and had discussed their plans for an escalation in what was at that time a coronavirus outbreak in China, Iran and Italy.\u00a0 Only one customer was moving to home working (laptops were actually being delivered that day), others were thinking about homeworking.\u00a0 Some customers already had a homeworking strategy in place and were aiming for a trial for a small group of employees during 2020. But it didn\u2019t feel like a top priority &#8211; there were plenty of other business pressures that needed to be addressed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Seven weeks later I finally came back to work.\u00a0 In seven short weeks (although it felt longer as I battled the virus) our industry had transformed.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Customers who were planning on trialing homeworking with 20 agents in the next 12 months had moved thousands of agents home. Some had moved 70% of their employees to home, and spaced out the other 30% within different buildings to safely have them in the workplace.
